I'm fishing Algoma with Kayla in the morning and then I'll be doing the family thing for the weekend. We're going to a friends cottage Sat. and tubing Sunday. So it's a no fishing weekend for me. I'd like to but family trumps fishing just like fishing trumps work.

Floorboy, don't you ever work?? ;D
Did you get the charging system figured out? Don't forget your spoons this trip either.

Is anybody fishing Algoma Friday morning? My daughter and I will be there by 4am to pick up the dinner guests for our 4th of July celebration. ;D

I've had bad expeiences with my truck getting vandalized in Algoma. ;D
Seriously, we were camping at Point Beach with a big group and I couldn't bear to be that close to the lake without fishing so I went home and got the boat.

I forgot to add that I saw quite a few alewife and even a few smelt in the stomachs of the fish I cleaned. I didn't mark a lot of bait but it's obviously there judging by the stomach contents.

I made it out for a morning trip on Saturday and afternoon trips on both Saturday and Sunday. We went 5 for 9 Sat. AM, 6 for 8 PM, and 8 for 8 Sunday. Saturday our best depth was 65'-70' and Sunday night it was 85'-90'. Almost all of the salmon came on a white glow coyote with a green fly on a dipsy at 125' out and a white glow enticer with aqua fly on a pound ball back 60'. We also landed a few rainbows on a Silver Streak blue dolphin on 3 colors of lead out on a board and a silver/blue diamond king spoon on 4 colors of lead on a board. We fished north of the nets out in the area of the wreck most of the time. Saturday was a little bumpy but last night it was almost flat calm and the light rain sent most of the boats in early, which made it a whole lot less crowded. We only had to worry about one idiot each night who figured he didn't need to have his lights on. What's with people like that?

Keep an eye on Craigslist and Ebay. I know several people that have recovered their stolen property that way.

I have reflective tape on my boards and flags. All it takes is a quick flash of a maglight to locate them if they aren't already lit up from the moon or my stern light. Make sure you use the good tape like they use on road construction signs and orange barrels and they'll be easy to see.

While you're at it maybe you should start F.A.P.L. and maybe even F.A.M.M. ;D ;D

His (lack of) netting skills even rubbed off on Kayla last year. Maybe she should put a goby in his pocket or something.

I've been using albright knots for several years with no problems. This year when I retied I used the Spro swivels with a haywire twist and shrink tubing, it's much easier to tie. I'd be a little concerned about using a crimp sleeve. I think the copper would tend to flex at the sleeve and eventually weaken and break. With stainless wire it would work, but copper is a lot softer than stainless.

Fished in the fog this afternoon/evening and went 1 for2. We landed a nice rainbow in 155' on a 6 color leadcore with a pink alewife PK spoon. Later in 145' the same board went back with what I thought was a small fish until I got the board almost to the boat. Then it turned and took slow, steady drag for about 100' and came undone before I even got to see it. Oh well, at least the rainbow put on a nice display with at least 10 big jumps. The fog was getting thicker by evening and the waves were building so we headed in a little early and made it to the pierheads just after dark. Water temp was 49-50 from 100' to 225' on top and about 44 on the probe everywhere I checked.

Saturday just tell 'em you're trolling for crappies. ;D
Do you have the side imaging on the new depth finder? I want to see it in action if you do.
