I think your conscience will tell you if you're chartering or not. I take lots of different people out on my boat and don't ask for anything in return but occasionally someone hands me some cash to cover expenses. Since I'm only taking out people I know and perhaps friends or relatives of theirs I don't think it's a problem, have never worried about it, and won't start now.

I sure wasn't much of a threat to the Algoma fish last year.

I have my 300' coppers on Diawa Saltists in the 57's. I was using Convector 55's but like the faster retrieve speed on the Diawa's. My Convectors now sit on a shelf but if Tuna Tom still did the gear change to make them faster I'd gladly put them back in service.

Did you get it figured out? I might be able to help if not.

I discovered that eggs don't all float at the same level of salinity and since have been using 1.25 cups of pickling/canning salt to a gallon of water. I mix it in a plastic tub (think cheap Wal-mart dishwashing tub) and put salmon fillets in for 12-18 hours in the fridge. I smoke at 225 for 2.5-3 hours, but your time/temp. might vary depending on your smoker. I use a Cookshack and it makes even my cooking taste great.

It probably explains a few things about me.

I often run 16 oz balls on a rod directly off the side of the boat and always have snubbers on them. The hits are every bit as violent as dipsy hits and I learned the hard way that snubbers were necessary. Now I just need to get a hardhat for when the rookies get that pound ball swinging around while I'm trying to net a pi$$ed off fish.

I finally got my first 2015 limit of whitefish Saturday after 4 attempts with less than spectacular results. Larsen's in 32' with a mix of Raps and Pimples was the answer. They were hitting real light and coming off easily, I lost another 15 within sight and my missed fish were in the dozens.

Not me, my fall salmon fishing was lousy this year (as was the rest of my year). But the silver lining was that it forced me to chase walleyes, white bass, and crappies instead. The bite for all three of them has been great and more than made up for what the salmon fishing lacked. Usually by now I'm chasing BIG walleyes on Little Bay de Noc, but this year I've been doing so well locally that I probably won't even make a trip up there. It seems weird, this will be the first fall in over 20 years that I haven't spent at least a couple of days up there.

That's what I was thinking it was. I found the podcasts, listening to one now. Some interesting info.

What is Chub Bin? Was the speaker the same guy that promotes Wolf River fishing?

Thanks for the report. I think I'll put my boat away for the winter since it doesn't seem like we're going to see the great bite we've seen in the past couple of falls. It's time for me to concentrate on walleyes.
