With the proposed stocking cuts of 60%+ for salmon what do you see us fishing for in a few years? Will it be a trout fishery with the odd salmon? All lake trout? Rainbows?
I'm close to pulling the trigger on a new boat but am getting cold feet wondering what the future looks like on Lake Michigan. Would I be a fool for sinking money into a new boat with the future of salmon fishing on the lake in limbo?

Is there anyone in the Fox Valley area that has a lot of experience installing Raymarine that you'd recommend? I'm looking at a new boat that has a Raymarine radar dome on it that I would need to make removable to fit it through the door to my shed and want to talk with someone knowledgeable to figure out how to do it. I also need to find out what Raymarine offers for an autopilot for the system.

I have no experience with the Itroll but will put a plug in for the Trollmaster. I've been using them for 20 years with no problems other than a servo that went bad, bought a new one from a hobby store for about 10 bucks and was back up and running. Calling them for advice has been a positive experience but I have to admit I haven't in several years, so not sure if that is still the case. I just put a new one in for a friend last year and it is amazing how adjustable it is compared to my 12 year old one.

Another great Video Nick!!
I'm going to steal the idea of using Rattlin' Raps from you and give it a shot on the Wolf. I've been playing with some blade baits and getting lots of little ones so I don't see while the Raps won't work.

Nice fish Cole! Congratulations!
Nick, if you want to put some eaters in the freezer try the Wolf. We put limits in the box for 5 guys in 2 boats last Saturday. If this wind eases up a bit I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow. Get ahold of me for specifics if you want to come over this way.

We fished Sat. evening and ended up 6 for 6. We had 4 rainbows, 1 coho, and a shaker that I turned the hook on. Everything came on spoons in 140'-180' with 5 of our 6 rods taking fish, so no real pattern. We got them on a 65' rigger, mono dipsy, wire dipsy, 300' 30# copper, and 8 color leadcore. The water was in the 70's on the surface but we found high 40's to low 50's down 50'. There were a few nice kings at the cleaning station and most guys I talked with had 1-3 fish. My expectations were low heading out so I was pleasantly surprised with the activity we had.

For Canada it would depend on the depth. I've caught them with Buzzbombs deep, Sonars in mid-depths, and jigs down to 50 feet or so. The best (almost only) color is white, a big white twister tail is good and a minnow doesn't hurt either. We were jigging for them a month ago in 100'+ on Lake Superior with 3 oz. jigs, tails, and brined sucker belly and did real good. I plan to try it on Lake Michigan soon, although I don't plan on keeping them from there. The Canadian and Lake Superior lake trout are much better eating.
Where are you heading to in Canada?

Awespray, what Diawa's were you using? I have SG's that are over 20 years old that are still performing flawlessly and they do double duty between salmon and then walleyes in the fall. I have Convectors that are sitting on the shelf. They are good reels but mine are older with the slow retrieve, I'm sure I'd like the newer faster ones though.

The last few I've bought have been Diawa Sealine Linecounters in the 57 size. I think the number is SG-57LC.

I was out last night until dark, we got 6. The water was a little crowded and there were quite a few fish at the cleaning station.

That's much better. Now if someone can just figure out how to make it refresh automatically....??

Has anybody figured out to make it stay in the same position when it refreshes itself? If I set it so I can see the whole harbor mouth (and the tree) it goes back to the lower left corner with every refresh. It's going to be impossible to get any work done if I have to be moving it constantly when I have it on at work.
