Another great video Nick, thanks. Hey, who was that guy in the blue hoodie? I never see him in your videos.... I see we weren't the only ones that had lookers that wouldn't bite. I saw several of them on the graph Saturday. Most of them were when I would put a rigger down, you'd see them streak up towards the ball/bait on the graph, then nothing.

It was a tough day for us too. We fished Algoma from about 2 until dark and ended up 2 for 3. One good rainbow and one small salmon. I managed to get a lot of spoons washed too.

In the past week and a half I've caught them as shallow as 75' and as deep as 250'. About half rainbows and half salmon, almost all on Mag spoons. One day my dipsys never got touched and the next they were better than everything else. Keep changing things until you find something that works. I've caught fish on riggers and leadcore too. A couple of the better setups were a 55' rigger with a mag bloodynose RV Moonshine on SWR and a four color on a board with a Moonshine half-meal. Other than those two nothing has been consistant for me but I've always found something that worked for a few fish.
I'm hoping to make it out Saturday afternoon if things go right for me this weekend.

Now I don't feel so bad about feeling so bad today. Tomorrow would be a great day to go if I wasn't behind at work. Oh well, maybe this weekend.....

anybody know if the grouse numbers are up this year ? Judging by the very few I saw while bear baiting all summer I'd guess they are on the downward side of their cycle. (At least on the bait that I usually see them near) I think I just posted my first DISCLAIMER!

Way to go bullpen!! That's an awesome bear and a great picture too. Is that your first bear or have you been at it a while?

Sometimes (most of the time) it doesn't come easy. I got lucky this year. With my last tag I sat up in a tree 12 nights before even seeing a bear. The biggest thing I saw before my first bear was a bluejay. The bait I was on then was in a clearing about 10 by 15 yards and that's all I could see. BORING!! On night number twelve when I finally saw my first bear I let him go. Fortunately a better one came in a little later and I scored just as it was getting dark.
Perserverance pays off and there's plenty of time left yet.
Good luck guys!!

I got mine last night and he's the biggest I've ever taken by far. I don't have the weight on him yet since the butcher didn't have a big enough scale but we're guessing in the neighberhood of 400 lbs or better. A 225 and a 190 laying on the floor next to him looked like cubs.

It happens almost every year at this time. Acorns, etc. become plentiful and their habits change. Just keep at it and you'll see bears. I had to sit for 12 days before I even saw a bear on my last tag. He wasn't quite what I wanted but the second one that showed up a little later that evening now resides in my basement.

I know there's a few of us chasing bears and it starts today. So I'm just wishing a safe hunt and big bear for every one of you. I can't wait to see some pictures (and hopefully mine too).
