Any shaker that's under 16" that's only hooked in the lip is going to make it. Grab just the hook with your pliers, hold it overboard and turn the hook. No touch, no problems, save room in your bag limit, and a chance to catch it again in a couple years when he's a screamer!

Saved my probe from the bottom yesterday! I gave it a jerk before deploying, and the cable broke a foot above the probe. Unseen kink or nick. I already sent one to the bottom 2 years ago. $220 for a replacement Fish Hawk.

Here is the pink I caught at Algoma a couple years ago. Looks about the same. Attachments:

Sure looks like it, based on the small tightly packed scales that fall off even easier than a coho. I had a pink a couple years ago at Algoma. It was about 3 1/2 pounds, looked very much like yours and a slightly humped area on the back in front of the dorsal fin. State record is just over 6 pounds I believe.

Steve, I have found that the NAPA in Algoma (when open) or Sturgeon Bay to be a good source for marine parts. They have many marine parts in stock and catalogs for the weird stuff. Bring your burnt out and worn parts with. Bulbs, belts, specialty fuses, hoses, ignition parts are in stock most of the time. For wiper blades, I suggest switching to Anco automotive arms and blade assemblies. Refills are then only a couple bucks at any Walmart.

I like using 8-8 1/2 foot rods with dipseys. Use something with backbone, because it's hard to trip a dispy with a noodle, and it will not keep the lines outside of your riggers. Convectors with counters and 50# Powerpro and the clear skinny snubbers complete the package.

About the LED's that I mounted on my Scotty's line counters. I found red LED's with a resistor and harness (so they are good for 12vdc) at Mills Fleet Farm. About $3 apiece. Watch polarity, as LED's will not light if wired backwards. I put a small aluminum foil reflector over the top of the LED and taped them inside the cover of the Scotty's. Ran a small 2 conductor wire taped to the main power cable and a polarized plug to the nav light circuit. If only they would generate a little heat to de-fog the counters in the morning! Same setup will work with any rigger and the red will not ruin your night vision.

Instead of a clip to hold the net bag, we use a light piece of rope tied to the bottom of the bag, and the other end looped around the net handle. That way we can hold the bag tight like a tennis racket until the fish is inside the hoop, then let go of the rope and the fish drops into the bag. If there is an "netting error" pull back on the rope and try again. I fish solo a lot and really like having a rope on the net.

I've had 4 Scotty electrics on my boat for 5 years. Fast, work great, pull the clutch lever for controled, fast drop, boom lifts up for connecting line to release, so I don't need to use retro retrieve. Simple stopper on cable to auto stop whereever you want. Lifetime warranty. Had 1 counter go bad, Scotty sent me a new one, NC. I did add a red LED light by each counter, so counters are lit up when nav lights are on. No buyers remorse here, I'll buy Scotty's again.

Help! I need a primary drive belt for my Raytheon Sport Pilot Plus. A couple teeth sheered off the belt. About 13 years old. Raytheon no longer supports this unit.

Short solo run out of Algoma on Sunday. Couple steelhead on 2 color leadcore off board. Very tarnished hammered brass spoon with pink insert was the ticket. 300-450 FOW straight out.
