We'll be fishing out of Algoma tomorrow afternoon and Thurs. morning.... any advice on depth, speed, where in the water collumn, rigs etc... any help greatly appreciated JP

I ate a 44 lb red fish I caught in the gulf in Alabama...Who would have thought it was a state record.... JP

By the angle of the line I figure 45 degrees or so, therefore the depth would be 1/2 the length out...this is not very scientific...JP

Again I was able to demo my fishing prowess by getting skunked Sat evening, Sun morn, Sun evening......Redemption on Mon morning with an 11 pound king and a 4 pounder in 200 feet down 60....the water was flat the whole time....You don't have to catch fish to have a good time fishing.....Bob the harbor master gave us a 14 lber. so my smoker is full....Looking forward to another trip next week JP

Thanx alot steveo.....I pulled my boat to Winthrop harbor a month ago.....turned out I was too early.....now I just have to wait for a fish at Algoma.....wish me luck JP

I've had it happen.... I think the gear slipped on that guide shaft---maybe something in those gears comes loose....I never took it apart JP PS I've never figured out how to realign with out pulling all the line off....I too have had a honker break the line because I couldn;t reach out 100 feet with my arms...

Ashland forcast doesn't look to bad windwise.....My brother lives in Bayfield and has been doing good around the islands....lake trout, cohos, steelhead, & browns....he often comes in with a mixed bag....JP

mount it then get it compensated or you could be way off...the stuff on your boat can affect it drastically...I know a guy who never did find Isle Royal across lake Superior---had to call the coast guard when he ran out of gas....JP
