If I wanted to run copper do I need a special pole or would my leadcore pole suffice? I have an okuma rod that I am using for leadcore but I am thinking of only running one leadcore rod and copper on the other.
Good Idea? Bad Idea?

any rod will do since the copper is a soft non abrasive braid. The only concern would be enough backbone and appropriate length,I use the same rods I run for leadcore.

Great idea, you should be good to go. I am changing out rods this year to have a rod with bigger guides so the stiffer copper can flow better but no special eqipment needed.

What pound copper should I try 30, 45, 60? What is the sink rate for copper?

Go with 45lb copper. Ideas vary on the sink rate. At 2-2.2 mph its suppose to be 22' down for 100' of 45lb copper, on turns it will be deeper. Who makes 60lb copper?

I have both 30 and 45. 45 makes the most sense it will take you deeper in the water column than LC and 30# copper. 30# will only take you deeper by 5 to 10 feet than a full core of copper.

If I were you ... I'd get the devil dipsey's to work before jumping on the copper bandwagon ... Not to discourage you but there seems to be more "ISSUES" with copper then dipseys Just my 2 cents worth ...

Try running a bit higher (130-135) with the same thing on as the braid ... once that works try running it deeper.

Komo, Start with less LOC as Steve said. Go 7-8' on a leader helps as well. I seem to always have a wire diver out 85' no matter what water temp or certain time of year and get fish. Be above not below fish. Once you get them going you will love it.
