Fundraiser
My name is Gerry Croarkin. I am a Merrillville Police Officer and an avid outdoorsman. Last September (2009) a fellow brother of ours in the Criminal Justice system and fellow outdoorsman suffered a major stroke. His name is
Scott Usher. He worked as a Correction Officer for the Lake County Jail for approximately 25 years. He has a lovely wife, Lori, and two children, Brandon 22 and Katie 17. Scott made several friends on the waters of Lake Michigan where he loved to fish for Salmon and Trout on his former boat he called “Thanks Dad”. You could also find Scott at various sporting events in support of his children as well as various outdoor fishing events. The stroke Scott suffered has left he and his family in a strenuous and unfortunate situation.
On 9-11-10, I am hosting a Fundraiser for the Usher Family. This includes a Lake Michigan fishing tournament and an after party barbecue dedicated to him. The schedule for this day is as follows.
* (DO NOT HAVE TO FISH TO PARTICIPATE IN BARBECUE)*
1) Boat fishing tournament for Salmon/Trout from 6am –11am.
2) Results of the tournament and cash prizes for winners held from 12pm-1pm.
3) The after party barbecue, raffles, etc will be from 1pm-5pm.
4) The weigh-in and after party barbecue will be held at the Portage Yacht Club located on the west side of Rt 249, ¼ mile north of 80-94. Feel free to come and hang out at the pavilion any time after 9am. The set up crew will be there about 11am or sooner. (NO rainout for after party/will take place as scheduled)
5) There are 2 sheltered pavilions available, side- by- side. There is plenty of parking for all including boats and trailers. Electricity, water hose, and indoor bathrooms are available.
6) FREE FOOD and POP. There is no charge to participate. I will provide burgers, dogs (simple sides) and pop free of charge. I simply ask you to participate and provide donations FOR the USHER FAMILY at your discretion. An Alcohol permit has been purchased: BYOB
NOTE-I will personally purchase and provide the food, pop, and will be participating in the fishing tournament.
