4) Cancellation of tournament due to weather:
a) SAFETY FIRST!
b) I will use my 18 ft open bow boat as a standard to determine if it is safe for the tournament to proceed (by 6am). Basically, if I can launch and fish safely, the tournament is “ON”. If I cannot fish safely, the tournament is “OFF”. (Note-see cancellation alternative below)
c) Once the tournament begins as scheduled (6am) it becomes official. If at anytime the weather forces any boat off of the lake prior to 11am, the tournament is still considered official.
d) I ask fishermen to use and monitor Channel 80 for any announcements concerning the tournament. I will also have a voice mail set up with a message of what’s going on. PLEASE-keep this number on you and use it ONLY on the morning of the tournament for information. That number is (219-743-0255). Call my personal cell phone only if you have other concerns and need to speak with me directly.
e) ***If tournament is cancelled due to weather there will be a “big fish, little fish” drawing for 1st and 2nd Place (*Must be present to participate). This drawing will be held at the normal scheduled weigh in time (by 1:00 pm). This gives anyone a chance to still fish at their own discretion. Everyone is free to use the pavilions at the Portage Yacht Club as a base to park your boat and hang out for any reason, any time, after 9:00am (Pavilion Rules). If need be, use the south gravel parking lot at the Portage Marina as a stand-bye place to hang out prior to 9am.
