Hello to all... just bought our first boat of any real Lake Michigan Size and hoping for some pointers for our 2 new downriggers. going out of port sheldon any ideas on time, how far out, depth. want the boys to get the big fish fever going... salmon, trout, heck even an old tire if they think its a fish! any help so very much app.

In New Buffalo, where I fish, the fish have been in around 70 feet of water (FOW) and deeper. I think Grand Haven area the water drops off alot quicker so cooler water might be farther out. Get a couple of dipseys to run in addition to your riggers. Meat rigs have been the ticket for me the last couple times out, picking up lakers on the bottom and Kings at the thermocline (50'ish down).
I am assumeing you have done this before?
