I've been out of Michigan city yesterday and today for perch and did not even have a bite. Everyone we talked to had the same luck.

We fished out of Michigan City for perch on Monday this week (7/26). We didn't start real early but were on the water by nine AM. Fished all day except for stopping to eat lunch and had a grand total of 7 perch. V-E-R-Y slow. We fished mostly straight out from Black Ditch but did go east about a quarter mile at one point. Just as bad in one spot as another as far as we could tell. All the fish we caught except one were below the normal size you would keep. Tried from about 8 feet depth all the way to 40 feet. Also fished at different distances from the bottom up to about half way to the surface. As bad as it was, we slay them compared to some people we talked with. Talked to some guys at the marina also pulling out and they fished for hours and caught one! I guess the storms really ruined their appetite or scared them to Michigan. Am thinking about a trip to New Buffalo just to see if there are any left up there that will take a minnow. Anyone heard anything from up there this week?

Fished yesterday starting at 7:30 am straight out of the Ditch in 52 fow. Trolled east to 60 feet of water. Caught an 8 lb king 40 ft down in 53 fow on a white fly with green beads and a steelhead on a Kavorcian spoon at 36 feet in about 57 fow. Both fish were caught when it was cloudy. No bites once the clouds broke. We were off the water by 10:30.
