Reading through this site for the last couple of months some guys give me the feeling a laker is undesirable and some times the some with bows. Just thought i would ask the question what do you guys prefer to catch and or eat

to answer your question, kings put up a hell of a fight bows put on quite the air show and can be a lot of fun too lakers normally just hit the lure and then pull in like dead weight most of the way, that and most people dont seem to like eating them

Here's my 2 cents worth. I agree with the fighting and landing of the salmon, the acrobatics of the bows, and now some fight with a suspended laker. Salmon, you have smoked, grilled, then you can process them(can in jars) and have the greatest salmon spread, loaf, patties or in a cold pasta salad. Bows fried, grilled, smoked, just don't choke on all the pin bones if they aren't filleted. Now the laker, there is nothing better than a good trout boil. As you can tell, I enjoy eating everything I catch.

I like to compare the fish to running backs. A king salmon is like Emmett Smith in his prime plowing throw the line with awesome power. A Rainbow is like Barry Sanders in his prime darting, weaving, and deeking you out with amazing agility. A Lake trout.......well do remember the Chicago Bears when McMahon would hand it off to the Refrigerator? On eating the catch, they are all good: Salmon or rainbow grilled is my favorite. Salmon recipe "Meal Fit for A Queen" is also awesome. I have also been turned on to and really like deep fried salmon. I too love Lake trout in a fish boil.....served with lemon butter it becomes poor man's lobster! My 2 cents.

Kings & coho's are by far my favorites. A small bow (under 6 or 7lbs) is great also. I love to catch lakers but they always go back. An lets not forget about Brown Trout. We fished specifically for these hard fighting fish for years up around Door county. I have eaten many off the grill & smoked and they taste great from those waters. Caught from down by Milwaukee, especially inside the harbor, they don't taste quite so good but I still enjoy catching them.

If we put smoked king, coho, rainbow, brown, and laker on a table here in Ohio at a party without a doubt, over and over again....the laker is what people get when they come back for more.
