Id like to thank everyone for there posts on portage. Ive fished there three times last week and caught fish every time! The only thing i can say is that the weekend warriors that come out there to go partying on there boats are a**holes ! My friend was fighting a fish and a pleasure boater went full speed right next to us ran over my friends line with a fish on it messed up his fishing line and broke off the fish! I wanted to say something to him but theres children out there so i didnt . I also notice most of the idiots out there are from Il. Even though im from chicago im not one of those idiots hell wed. So remeber not all of us from Il are not a**holes. We landed 10 fish released 6 of them im not here to clean out ur fish Indiana people just like a couple of them.

Steelheadwarrior, Anyone can be a jerk! It doesn't matter where you're from. Good to hear there are others out there who might like to mount gattling guns on their boats for the "pleasure boaters". I wonder just what gives them the most pleasure...going fast, wasting gas or trying to swamp us?

I think it make the pleasure boaters feel that they rule the lake because of there big boats with power. At least i know one pleasure boater that doesnt come near fisherman on the water but then again i took him on my boat on saturday fishing and he saw what he was doin from other people so now he respects fisherman. Maybe they all need to be out fishin to make them see what a**holes they are.

I see the same crap out there when we are fishing. Amazing how this kind of thing can happen on such a big lake.

I am in agreement with the pleasure boaters being a pain. Were you fishing near the mouth of the ditch? I avoid it during any daylight hours because of the pleasure boaters, it is to be expected to have close encounters with them if that is the case. Glad to hear you are doing well on the steelies, way better than I have been doing!

If you are from Il and launched out of Burnham Harbor it is no different. Way worse. I fish Indiana and live in Chicago. I would fish Indiana any day!

Understand about the weekend stuff. So what were your fish biting on warrior? I have been trying to find out what has been consistently working and the water depth. I'm catching some fish in 448-55 foot of water out of MC. Listening to the radio..boats are catching them or not. Are you running copper and what about your speed?
Thanks
