Set lines at day break today out of Portage. After my pleasurable meeting of Triggerfinger at the dock, we attempted to gang up on some fish. After losing a couple cohos (pretty sure that's what they were) out by the #4, we went blank. We then trolled back to the mouth and caught 3 steelies. We had to take a buddy back to the dock at 9:00 but decided to go back out. We started out further again but did no good. So again, we trolled back toward the ditch where we caught a school of fish in close. The 12:00 bite was on in which we landed 5 more and lost a few. We ended up with 8 steelies, but man did we taking a beating from being out there in the heat that long. Anyone wanna come over and help me clean these suckers in the am? Just kidding, we were blessed and I'm not complaining. We caught most of our fish on orange crush spoons. The red spoons and orange jointed rap's didn't get touched today like last time. (Weird). good luck ladies and gents, I'm beat and going to bed. Oh yeah, for the perchers, it was bad today at Portage.

It was a fun day on the water. Glad you got into another bunch in the afternoon. It was really cool seeing that buck on the sand dune on the way out to the lake.
Keep in touch.

Yeah, it was cool seeing that buck. My daughter is the one who spotted it on Mon and then on Thurs she spotted it again (same one in the same spot). It was nice to meet you as well. I wanted to tell everyone what you did that day, but didn't know if you would mind. I was going to work that deeper water for a little while and eventually make it back to the mouth. However, I sure appreciate you shouting out to me when you did because it allowed my buddy to catch one before he had to leave. Hey isn't this what this site is about? Making contacts and helping one another out.

Thanks for the info. We had he same experience with the late bite on Wednesday. Appears the steelies are schooled and waiting to go up tribs. Were fish caught on dipsie or riggers..50 -55 feet of water? The way the map appears the cold water is still in close to shore. Depending on the wind and waves we will go on Saturday.
