Started out of Portage around 8 this A.M. Could not get anything going. Went down to the donut (nothing), then the Castle (same). Ended up way down by Black Ditch. Three tickets from 3-5:30 today. Size was spectacular (lots of 11-13 inchers). We were a couple hundred yards East of Black Ditch in 18 fow. Ditch itself only produced a few. Ended up missing the Air-show, but this was one of the best coolers i have ever put together.

Black Ditch is West of Michigan City boat harbor and NIPSCO cooling tower. You will see a large Sand dune on the shoreline that is called Mount Bauldy and the actual black ditch is a small V in the shore line that is little more than a trickle of a stream with vegetation around it.You can not miss the area because there will be a bunch of Perch fishing boats anchored all over. The bottom contains lots of clay banks and gravel which attract the Perch. It is approximatly 13 natical miles East of burns Ditch and on a calm day can get there pretty quick. My problem is my boat which I dock at the Portage Marina is a gas HOG and at over $3.00 a gallon on the ditch I just can not afford the FUEL price.Good fishing and keep a dry BILDGE. You could launch at one of the Mich City Ramps if you are a trailer boater, may be another message board reader can give you more info on the Mich City Ramps
