I have followed this forum for over 15 years. An understand the history of it an why no one posts reports anymore. But based on all my sources of info the fish started as per standard in Indiana then started moving north. An pretty much have stuck to the East side of the pond. It appears theres some big kings in the mix aswell. All the while the Wisco side seems quiet. My gut is telling me that those fish have begun the northward migration an will remain on the Eastside until the alewives hit our shorelines in June to spawn.
These are just my observations, an I'm just looking for any input especially from those who call the southern portion home.

Yes it is sad there is so little activity on this site. I'm hoping it's only because there is nothing to report! I have not gone salmon fishing yet and this will be my latest start in over 30 years! I think the migration north has stalled because of the cold weather. There has been some fantastic coho action off Chicago and great king catches out of MI city IN. There is an abundance of bait fish near shore thus those going deep where the coho feasted on mysis the last few years have not found fish. That's OK with me because fishing coho in May in 200 fow down 50-100+ has its challenges esp during windy May.
The charters out of Port, MKE, Racine and Kenosha have been targeting Lake Trout because that's what's around and they joke they are doing their part to save the alewife. One of the bests fleets on the Lake is Kinn's catch out of Algoma and they setup shop in Winthrop for the spring coho run. There was a lack of pictures from them on Facebook and then they to were getting a lot of lake trout. Recently more silver fish but when you see photos at the end of their trips the boat appears to be traveling north back to Wintrop.
This late spring is unusual so not sure how the fishing will be when the coho get into WI. The good thing is they will have put on some weight over the last month of their absence.

I have not been out as well. From what few friends that I have left for info that have not migrated to FB the report is that even the few lakers they were getting in port have left in the last 48 hrs as well. Scattered coho, 1 here 1 there and one nice king out of milw. Had a great 5 days at the cabin with some work chores getting done. Came home to see the rain gauge at 4.5 inches.
