Headed straight out of the north setting lines with enough light I didn’t need board lights. Stopped in 80 feet of water and headed NNE. Surface temp at the north gap 56 and it was 52 when we started with 50.5 down 30. Marked a few hooks and occasional bait on the bottom. Reached 105 feet with only one drive-by on my wire Dipsy white green/glow Brad’s Purple Frog 1.5 set 105 loc. I thought to myself oh boy, are we going to have another day of drive-bys like our last 2 outings?
Headed back shallower reaching about 98 feet of water and got a Coho down 30 on a white flasher LBB. I didn’t get it reset before the wire Dipsy fired again with a screamer. Shortly followed by 70 foot rigor white flasher and purple frog, another screamer. Then the center rigger went with a white flasher Bullfrog fly. Dipsy Fish stopped with 385 loc, 22.5# king. Deep rigger fish came unglued and 5.5# Coho on other rod.
Pretty excited but it was kind of downhill from there. It was drive-by City and a dense fog rolled in about 6AM. We landed three more fish, hooked up three that fell off while we were reeling and another 10 that were drive-bys. I can’t remember this bad of a batting average but that’s fishing. Overall only three bites on the boards and the shallowest was a 5 color with reg Chicken Pox with UV tape taking a nice bow and lost a Coho at the net. The other was a 150 copper with pearl Big Al fish flash and Spotted cow. Mono, 3color, 4 color, 6 color, 7 color, 175 copper with a lot of changing of the lures zero for zero. Yup 7 for 20. Marked a good amt of bait and hooks so I assume our fish were not that hungry to commit. Probably full on flies. (see picture)
Dipsy 3 set 25-60 loc Orange Bechhold/gold purple fly 1-2
Dipsy wire 1.5 set 105loc White Spindoctor/pearl/grn Purple Frog 2-6
Dipsy 1.5 wire 80-99loc Brad’s Purple Frog/white spin doctor 0-2
Rigger 30-50 White Flasher LBB 1-2
Rigger 40-65 White Flasher Bull Frog 1-1
Rigger 70Brad’s Purple Frog/white flasher 0-3
