I am moving to the Valparaiso area sometime later this summer. I have fished the Wisconsin and Illinois ports for salmon the last 24 years. Just seeing if anybody would help point me in the right direction. I have fished the early coho run in IN, but was wondering how the salmon fishing is throughout the open water season. Do the kings and coho mostly move to ports further north in the summer? Would I be better off fishing MI ports as the season progresses? What about Michigan City? Benton Harbor? I am not much for Lake Trout, but love kings, steelhead and coho. I understand there is a good LT bite in the shallows in the fall/early winter. That could be cool! ALSO looking forward to chasing one of my favorites, the bronzebacks! THANK YOU for any help you can provide!

St Joe/Benton Harbor has some good Skamania fishing in late summer....Coho and kings are good early and late also.

I also would suggest St Joe / Benton Harbor for a launch site after the spring fishing in Indiana dies out . Much quicker access to deeper water, and the launch fees offset the Michigan license costs. I live in South Bend area and move north to St Joe as soon as the water warms

Thanks for the information! Makes perfect sense. Looks like Benton Harbor is one hour from Valpo, so that looks a great option.
