I am visiting Lake Michigan this July for family vacation. Specifically the area is Long Beach, Indiana we are renting a house on the beach there. I am very unfamiliar with the area and was hoping you all might have information to get myself better acquainted with what to fish for, the best way to fish for them, etc...
Thanks!

I'm assuming you will be shore fishing? Or do you have a boat?
From shore, you can fish the pier/harbor at Washington Park in Michigan City for skamania steelhead. Most people cast orange spoons, spinners, or crankbaits, or fish with spawn bags or shrimp about 4-8 feet under a bobber

Thank you very much. Any specific advice for fishing on the beach near my rental house? I've never fished of a beach before and am wondering if fish will be that close to the shore and if there are heavy waves if it will carry the line in.

I would avoid fishing the beach near your place. The water is likely pretty shallow and you won't have access to many fish. You'll want to go to the pier and harbor in Michigan City
Like I said, you'll want to fish with orange spoons and spinners, or shrimp suspended a few feet under a bobber
