Bass In Lake MI?

Portage is having a bass tournament on June 29th to benefit Wounded Warriors. Sounds like a great cause but I never knew Lake Michigan to be a great bass lake. Can any of you bass anglers set me straight?

Lake Michigan is one of the very best bass fisheries in the world
5# - 6# fish are common

But in Lake Michigan in Indiana waters you can only keep 3 bass of at least 14 inches . Thats Black Bass ( Large Mouth or Small Mouth ) Thats why the Bass Masters had there tournament in Illinois waters out of Chicago some years ago
