I just bought a boat and I am interested in fishing I have been going out the past three or four weekends averaging two fish per trip been fishing in around 50 feet down riggers between 20-40 for the most part and just this pass weekend went out to 140 feet trolling toward Gary down riggers between 30-80 feet I have been using spoons and rubber bands to attach to the releases. I was wondering if anyone had any advise as where to fish? Depth? Tackle? If flashers and or dodgers are needed? Any help will be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance.

You are doing just fine. The fish swim in schools and follow the water temp. There really is not Place..but if you catch a fish do a figure 8 pattern and go back ..are you using dipsies etc.. I would take a charter and get a lesson or two. Pastrick Burns Harber and MC and New Buffalo all have great captains

Thanks for the advice no I haven't bought dipsies and the poles I would need for them. Now as far as following water temp are you using probes the only temp I have a reading for is the surface and if you aren't how are you going about finding the temp changes
