want to try casting for some coho from shore. Should I be bleeding these fish just after catch or is it not needed. Thought about bleeding and leaving on stringer with the cold water temps.

I always bleed out and put on ice,my opinion they make better table fair and keep longer if they make the freezer.

i always (try to)bleed everything - i have about a 7' cord on the boat with a loop on both ends. when i get a fish i put it though the gill and out the mouth and put the loops over a pole holder, put it overboard and cut the gills and let it bleed out for about 5 min, then in the cooler on ice. makes for lots less mess when cleaning and IMO (and reids) freezes and tastes better

Thanks. Went out to portage yesterday. Wife and younger two went to the beach. My older son and I tried to find a spot to fish on the wall but all the decent spots were occupied. Squeezed in and made a few casts but really wasn't worth it. Need to get out in the morning to stake a claim. Didn't see anyone catching anything while we were there.
