Asian Carp are here. The bulk of the Feds plan is barriers. Barriers be they electric, bubbles, noise, lights or whatever, barriers can only put "control" such as it is in one spot. Expensive obstacles, Asian Carp have already gotten past many obstacles already. Barriers do not reduce invasive populations. Restoring and maintaining a high native fish/predator populators, turns the entire area, lake, river etc... into a control, and does reduce invasive species populations. Please Google (Biotic-resistance on the increase:native predators) you will see it is very possible to control invasive species including Asian Carp. I do not intend to learn how to eat Asian Carp on a Shingle! Run them thru a Perch or walleye first, that's another matter!

I got in on the GLMRIS CAWS conference call yesterday, regarding amount of shipping thru Chicago. The Electric barrier costs, $22,727 dollars a day to operate. Anything but seperation means every US taxpayer is obligated to pay for this forever, even if the goods shipped affect them or not. This only blocks one spot, does not reduce invasive species populations.

I participated in the GLMRIS conference call Jan 10th regarding controls for Asian Carp/invasive species. We still have to wait until 2015 maybe 2016 and regardless of whatever plan they come up with, there will be no action. GLMRIS at that time will make recomendations to congress. Urgency?

The boat sport and travel shows have a Booth from an organization that is passing out DVD on how to clean and smoke them. They are giving taste test for fried fish...Im not kidding ....so the key is maybe the Indians will catch them in their nets..cause they will not bite..also will be fun to go down the Platte with a Bow and shoot them from a canoe!!!

Maybe we can send them to China instead of all of our fuel. They can make boots out of them, use the tails for fans.

This is NO laughing matter especially for anyone who fishes ANYWHERE in the great lakes. Obama should hang his head (from a tree) for telling the supreme court NOT to hear this case. Illinois has only 63 miles of shoreline and it threatens the entire $7.5 billion fishing and boating industry. It's no laughing matter.

Update; The asian Carp continue to double every year. Asian Carp pulled off a spawn in The Wabash this year during drought conditions, low water (they do not need a hundred miles to spawn only enough turbulence to mix eggs and sperm) The Feds admit we have native predators for Asian Carp but they have to be abundant. Minnesota is rebuilding its native fish population/predators before Asian Carp get to thick. we should be doing this as well. Google "biotic-resistance" principle applies to all invasive species including the mussels. We can't control where Asian Carp go, but we can control how many predators they run into. Only nature can control nature!
