I've got the lead core deployment all figured out thanks to those who provided insite on my other thread, but now I'd like some advice on slide divers as well. I rigged one up to try this year if we get into shallow fish. Last year early to mid July we had fish in 35-50 feet of water and actually found that we didn't have enough shallow setups. Is there anything special I should know about using the slide diver? I probably will run it outside of a wire diver and inside of lead. I usually run my wire divers on a 1 setting since my riggers are straight back off the corners. What setting would be recommended for the slide diver? If I use this fishing shallow I'll probably have something like 2-5 colors of lead I'll need to send out over the top at times.

Set your slide diver on 3. I use slide divers all the time (even in deep water) they work every bit as good as the wire dipsy's that they're on the outside of. I bought the pack with heavier weights and mag rings and it can tag bottom in 50 FOW on a 3 setting if I let it.

Thanks Champ. I've never seen a weight and ring kit for slide divers before. I'll have to check into that.

I use slide divers just out side my normal dipsy divers. Had the Dipsys set on a 1 or 2 setting and the slide diver all the way on the 6 setting. Generally I used them to split the difference from my Dipsy to my Mono boards. I would consider them a decent setup as they have caught their fair share of fish for me. Late last year I ended up exploring the lead core world and the slide divers didn't get used as much but brought them back out when working the skinny in late august... Love the lite bite option...

Phisy- Yes, it's a diver that you slide up the line while deploying until you've got your desired lead, then you clamp it on the line. When a fish hits, it releases and slides down. Check out the post Champ included with a link to slide diver's website.

If you really want to put the Slide Diver to good use...run them in the shallows with a plug 30-50' back....
Hang on....
If I was fishing shallow, clear water...I would for-go the wire and braid divers and use Slide Divers and leadcore and call it good...
