Seems like the MI board is always slow. Come over on the Wi one....we'll get ya fixed up! I'll second that from Hit-n-run. I live in ludington and converse more with the Wis. guys because for some reason, people on this side are just too tight lipped. They have an entirely different philosophy on the other side. You can get all the info you want from guys like H&R and the gang over there. Great bunch of people. As far as line on my rigger rods, i always spool them with 20-25 lb Ande. I use big game when tying my fly leaders. Just seem to have better luck with Ande on the reel. Ande seems to have less memory.

I live in st joe but have a place in two rivers... Wisconsin folks are more helpful cause it isnt as populated (my opinion) and WI folks are happy to see ya and will even put on FISH BOIL every weekned LOL... folks in MI are secretive about where and how the bite is because too many fishing spots have been ruined over the years by slobs...

Slowhand you are mostly right , but the sbtle things that I've noticed over the last 30 years of fishing on the Mi. side of the lake is the guys that continually use this excuse are sometimes the biggest slobs or fish hoarders on the lake. They don't want anyone to know it so they keep quiet and hope nobody notices them. ( they wouldn't share any information with anyone, unless they get paid, and then you might not get the full truth. I'll take the wisc. or indiana, people any day.

20 lb. line and change knots often. I switch to 25 lb. when the bite is tight on the harbor mouth for kings in August. Too many boats to let them run.

Add me to the 20# Ande crowd but I do have 2 rigger reels with 12# Sufix for during the slow periods (non-prime time). We typically extend the stretch with the line line rigger rods and run spoons off them for the most part. You need to fight the fish a tad more but that fight is a hoot.

I guess I'll also add to the "open info" topic. Unless one is fishing structure like the Bank Reef in Sturgeon Bay, you usually are fishing water temps. A bite in 100fow runs 300 miles long . The lake is put and take and there are plenty of fish for everyone. Helping people out and seeing and hearing their enjoyment is all part of the fun - at least for many of us. Remember too, what goes around, comes around. I believe in that big time. The guys in the WI board are from all over the place including various states. We've all become friends to various degrees due to the WI message board. We have outings where we try to get people together off season and on the Big Pond. You'll always see people on that board offering "newbies" a teaching ride. I'd have it no other way. I am thankful for all the friendships I've gained due to Lake Michigan fishing. Just my $0.02 for the little it is worth.
