It even amazes me, but after 10 months I finally have a job... ...We'll be relocating to Shawano.....and they have a great looking lake. Has anyone fished Shawano Lake? What are the species to fish. Paul

That's great news Paul! I've been to that area twice and I think you're going to enjoy it. If we get Spooning Around (Cody) back on this board, I think he's in that area, and he would be a great one for you to hook up with. He's a number one fishing machine.

We used to have a blast catching largemouth and panfish on Shawano Lake.....plus they have bars with long piers so you don't have to go far if you run out of beer!

I fish Shawano lake a fair amount in may and june and it can be a fantastic fishing lake. Start looking for gills and sunfish along the northwest shore lines in may and june as well as the reed beds along the west shore. Crappie ad other panfish as well as some perch and walleye can e found around the island in the canes. Crappies should be sawning in the cane beds alog the south and in some of the other cane beds. Bass fishig can be very good all year long, as well as the northern fishing. The lake has become a pretty good muskie lake as well. I havent even mentioned the Cecil side of the lake, which from what I understand is also very good for most species of fish. There are a few others here that I am sure fish it far more than I do and give you a much more detailed report of the wheres and hows of fishig and locations.

I have fished Shawano a few times, just don't ask me how to catch walleye. The rest of the fish are not to hard to find after fishing it a few times. Bluegill, crappie, bass, northern and a needle nose gar once in a while.
