I know this is early but with summer fast approaching, I wanted to provide this detail early on.
Please contact me with questions
Hope to see many new faces for the 2010 event!
Date: Friday, August 21st - Sunday, August 23rd
Many will be beginning the fishing weekend on Thursday PM. I plan to fish Thursday PM, Friday and Saturday AM and PM and Sunday AM. Of course, this is weather dependant.
We will put together a list of boats attending as well as anyone who needs a ride. We've had no problem getting people rides that don't have a boat to fish from. There is no need to get this detail ironed out until the event gets closer.
Big Fish Contest: Most people said they would like to see the big fish contest again. I will post the details as it gets closer but it will be similar to last year.
- Largest fish payout (weighed on the Port fish cleaning station scale.)
- Prepay of $5.00 per person to enter contest
- Contest runs from Friday @ Noon until Saturday @ 9:00pm
- All species included
- In case of a tie, the first fish registered wins
Lodging: Most people are either staying on their boats or getting a hotel. The following hotels are in the area:
Holiday Inn Harborside (less than 1 block from marina)
Super 8 - Saukville (HWY 33 - exit 96 - 3 miles from marina)
Country Inn and Suites (HWY 32 - exit 100 - 2 miles from marina)
If you plan to book there, I recommend doing it soon as the rooms fill up quick at that time of year. The rates are around $130 per night (plus ~$20 tax).
Food: There will be an organized feast on Saturday early afternoon at the local marina pavilion. I will supply the plates, napkins, utensils, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, tartar sauce, etc. I am asking people to contribute chips, appetizers, smoked fish, etc. as they have in the past. I know we won't run out of food.
The plan is to have salmon as well as the 'pot luck' of what others bring. There are a total of (4)four grills at the pavillion this year so we should have plenty of area to cook. Everyone should plan to bring the drink of their choice.
The rest of the meals will not be organized but there are plenty of restaurants in the area. Breakfast at the truck stop or Harry's is a given The grills can be available if you wish to grill out.
Boat Storgage:Just as last year, any trailer boats can be kept in the marina parking lots when not in use. There are also slips available at the Port Marina (262)284-6606.
Fishing Report: A modified fishing hotline for Port Washington has been added this year. The toll free number is: (866)516-2796 and the report will be updated by a local charter captain. You can call this to find out the most up-to-date fishing information or give me a call and I can share my secrets The accurate information will cost you more
T-shirts: If you wish to design your own t-shirt, please go to www.zazzle.com and you can custom design and order your color, size, etc. There will not be a formalized design this year.
I'm looking forward to another fun year and hopefully better weather and fish cooperation.
Looking forward to seeing everyone,
Please forward questions to me.
Thanks,
Mike (Aqua-holic)
