We went through the north gap around 4:20 AM hoping an early start would get us a king bite. It was not to be. Set up in 160 feet of water finding surface temperature of 48 up about 3° from last week. We couldn't even get the board on the five color when a nice bow was jumping with a old Raider chickenpox with recently added UV tape. The next hour was chaos boating eight and keeping seven and not able to turn around until 230 feet of water.
Once we turned back south bites really slowed. We just kept pecking away at them and fortunately having a good hook up rate. We kept working between 180 and 215 feet of water and hoping the north troll was best so kept going north. We did have a triple on the way up landing two. Then it slowed again so when we hit 2 close together in 208 feet of water we marked a way point. We worked that east and west for the next hour and a half going 6-7 and filling our limit a little after 1030.
It sounded like it was a little slower for others who fished the previous days. However this is been some fantastic fishing. Kept the Depth Raider at around 2.2 mph finding very little current . Didn't mark much bait but did mark a few hooks in the top 100. Ended the day with a beautiful 11 1/2 pound rainbow. Surface temperature got up to 49 from a low of 46.8. It was 52 near the harbor. Still 42.6 down 60. Our action continued to be mostly deep sets but riggers were a little quieter today. Ended up with 4 rainbows, 1 lake trout, 15 coho and threw back one shaker king.
