On Tuesday, May 5, 2015, WDNR stocked approximately 50,000 brown trout yearlings into Green Bay off of Marinette with the assistance of the RV Coregonus and its 1000 gallon tank. Three truckloads of fish were hauled in 4 boat trips out of Marinette and released offshore in various locations in attempt to disperse fish. The fish were seeforellen strain browns reared at Brule State Fish Hatchery in Brule, WI and averaged 7-8 inches. There was very little loss due to bird predation. These are unclipped fish, and the only clipped browns that WDNR stocks into Green Bay are approximately 30,000 seeforellen that get stocked through the ice in February at Stone Quarry in Sturgeon Bay. I would like to thank the following WDNR staff who helped out: Darren Miller, Bill Gobin, Gervase Thompson, Bob Hoodie, Andrew Notbohm, Ryan Zernzach, Brandon Bastar, and Tim Kroeff. Also, thank you to Waupaca Foundry for assistance and allowing the use of their facility to load fish onto the Coregonus. This wraps up the 2015 WDNR Green Bay brown stocking. Regards, Tammie

We are starting to see the success of the offshore stocking program on the bay. Trouble is we are not seeing the numbers north of Egg Harbor. So classic trout spots from Gills Rock to Fish Creek are still pretty void of trout. Maybe they could look at planting a few offshore spots further north. Maybe that wouldn't be cost effective though. It's a great start and I commend their efforts.

Getchasome, I could not agree with you more. The areas you described have become a desolate wasteland, devoid of both browns and bows. All of those places are where I got hooked on fishing.
p.s. I would like to see brookies again also.

p.s. I would like to see brookies again also. I use love trolling along cave point and running into the schools of " coasters " in the fall in their full spawning colors
