My 3 partial tears of rotator cuff slowly mending and even with lots of help don’t think a fall trip to the big pond a good idea. So today a buddy helped me with winterizing. Much to my dismay I discovered that the top two big bolt and washers that hold the 200hp Yamaha 2 stroke have dented into the fiberglass!!!!!!!!!! The shape of my Wellcraft Steplift 21 is unusual and projects out. Not sure if it is good or bad wrt to repairs. This could be an ugly job that I would not even begin to tackle. I guess better to find it now vs spring vs on the water!!! I’m in Mc Farland. Any ideas re where to have this repair done? Thanks, Grey Beard

What year is your boat? I thought that most of the newer ones were a composite core

If it is rotted, it's a wood core transom

For more information on your boat, repairs, etc. look it up on The hull truth website

I found a local fiberglass man used by some of the boat dealers. A one man show that can't get me in until next March and that works OK for me. It will be in the 4 to 5 K before I'm done. I think part of my problem is the way Wellcraft put the transom together and the cap used to "seal" the well. But 1995 and nothing to be done re warranty.
Yes, that website is very helpful.
Thanks,
Grey Beard

Did you find out if the transom is wood cored? The hull truth showed that some wellcraft models needed the transom and stringers reinforced with brackets

not yet. It's 1995 and everything else I worked on in the boat ie rod holders has a plywood core. I'll post a query on Hull Truth and attempt to contact Wellcraft. They stopped making this boat around 1999.
Thanks, Grey Beard

Grey Beard Give a call to Tom Mullin out of Chesterton, In. 219-617-4481 cell. I know it would be a little drive but for that sum of money and the guy does good work. I had Calumet Marine mount a kicker on my boat and the Swim Deck had to be cut with the edge remoulded. Calumet called Mullin and he picked up the swim deck and had it done the next day. He charged $400, which was well worth it. It looks like a factory job. I believe he at one time worked for Bayliner. Nebraska Rick

I've been out of town. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll call these guys on Monday and get their emails and send pictures for a rough estimate.
