Just curious as to which of these rods you guys would prefer and why.
All are Shimano rods: TDR70MB (7' medium, 1pc) TDR70MHB (7' medium heavy, 1pc) TDR80M2B (8' medium, 2pc) TDR80MH2B (8' medium heavy, 2pc) TDR86M2B (8'6" medium, 2pc) TDR86MH2B (8'6" medium heavy, 2pc)

2 piece for storage and transport. That being said the 4-5 down rigger rods broken over these many years were at the ferrules. I have 8' 3" ML Ugly and can control fish OK. Medium would be plenty as most of our fish are <12# so would like the additional flex as compared to MH. Length might be whatever helps the reeler see the fish getting close to the net and not so long that they back up and pull the fish into the motors. So length determined in part by the setup of the boat.

Thanks guys! I was all set to put in my order for two of them. Then I saw they would be back ordered. Not a big fan of waiting for back ordered items.

I like my 7' medium one piece rigger rods. The MH is too stiff for me. Just my preference though.

I agree with the others, medium action 7 footer as listed above.
However, if it were me, I'd go with the Okuma Classic Pro GLT 7'6" medium two piece trolling rods. Love the triangular fore grip on those rods.

Love the triangular fore grip on those rods. A lot of people on my boat also enjoy the triangular grips on the okuma rods

7' M piece is about perfect... but don't overlook having a fun rod. recently i brought aboard a 7 foot ML ugly stick spinning rod with an old school mitchell spooled up with 50 lb braid, in my opinion its a hoot to reel in a fish on... ( i use them for trolling walleyes as well)
I know of a couple other folks that have others... a fly rod w/ fly reel, a green hornet similar to that in the movie Grumpy Old Men (custom built...) i know of one w/ a reel that is backwards on a planer board rod.. that is always a good laugh!!

Drop that rigger holder a few notches- allows the entire rod including a lot of its backbone to drive a hook home, and it's way easier to work around with other rods. The green hornet is sweet!
