We launched at about 2:30 this afternoon for our lucky Sunday the 13th trip. I had a first timer and another rookie with me so I had my work cut out for me. Between setting lines, cleaning fish, and resetting lines I spent the entire afternoon in the back of the boat; it couldn't have gotten much better. We ended up 13 for 17 or 18. The 300 coppers were working great early, along with a hit or two on the 10 color. Dipsys didn't do much for us today, I had 2 running on wire and 2 on mono. A wire one got one hit that ripped a little line but didn't stay on. The mono ones took one hit that broke the leader off by the knot. The riggers got hot towards evening and popped about half a dozen times. We only ran spoons today and the best were Pink Alewife and a mag Moonshine Bloodynose RV. Most of our bites came in 225'-250' and direction didn't seem to matter much. There was only one other trailer in the lot when we got there and he was gone when we came in, it made finding a good parking spot easy.

We didn't mark much bait at all other than the usual stuff once it got dark.

We also went out of Algoma for a mid morning last shot. Went 3 for 3 in 200 FOW. 2 salmon and a big steelie. Both salmon on 60' riggers, flasher fly rigs, Steelie on a 100' wire dipsey with green/cracked ice Pro King. Sta-bil in and boat drained and put away. Good Season, already looking forward to spring. Happy Hunting guys & gals!

No, it was just a bad day for dipsys. Last week they caught their fair share of fish and the boards were dead, this week it was the boards turn to shine. It just shows that you have to put a good variety out there and let the fish tell you what they want to bite that day.

I just realized SteveO was fishing pretty close to me. Do you think maybe I did catch it from him? Would a shot of penicillin make it go away?
