The Wolf is open well above Fremont and all the way down to Poygan. I fished Friday and there was still a lot of ice coming down but not a problem if you're careful. Fishing was slow but will pick up this week. We did manage to catch a few including a 25" female that was the fattest I've ever seen on the river. I didn't put her on the scale but I would guess she was a solid 7.5 pound fish. She's still swimming, along with the other big fish that we caught. 3/8 oz chartruse/orange jigs with a stinger were the ticket.

i fished below shawano dam last 2 days with no luck ... ice went out wen i was on my 3 days in a row an i guess they pulled a few those days ... i heard shiocton an new london were still froze down to X bridge? on a positive note i did pull a 9 inch walleye while bluegill fishing on shawano lake yesterday, which im taking as a sign the walleye wagon is helping an the crappies are 2 feet below the ice but bring a quad or walk out

Nice job Fishoil, I am planning to head over with my friend or nephew. I am pretty sure I won't be taking my boat out, just a little to big. Thanks for the tip on the jigs and stinger. I will report my skunk after I go. Oh heck, I can report it before I go. Got skunked again. We'll see LOL

Scrapper, are you coming over tomorrow?
I didn't get out today, had work to do, but tomorrow is looking good. I heard the bite really picked up today. The winner of the Red Banks tourny had a 23" average and 28.25" was big fish. I saw a pic. of a 28" that was over 11 lbs today, not sure if it was the same fish though.

Looks like mid week for me, but the guy I'm fishing with has had a few good days on the river. (what ever that means) Looks like the Shiocton area.

You might be a little early for Shiocton, the ice just went out there today. Depending on the day, I could be talked into going if you want to jump in the boat with me.

Thanks Fishoil, the reason I get my but handed to me is simple. I only fish the river once in a blue moon and I have never been on the river with an accomplished wolf fisherman.
The Fox, Oconto, Peshtigo, and the Menominee rivers are pretty simple to figure out. The Wolf on the other hand is not familiar water, so I have bad days, and for some crazy reason I can't read the river like I can the others. You have no idea how much that drives me crazy.
Thanks for the offer Fishoil, but I only have one day this week. I would how ever like to get out with you some time.
John
p.s. Phishy tell me you know your stuff really well.

That's not nice posting pictures like that when our weather has been so crappy. I wish I would have seen it before supper, I would have posted a picture of the fresh walleyes I just ate. ;D
