Some yeahoo in a cruising vessel named Caesar’s Coffin came barreling at us yesterday and I assume on autopilot. I started to turn away and did manage to give him the ol “arm thrust”. He had the balls to come out of the cabin and motion that I should steer my boat out of his path!!! He blasted between two of us in 135fow nearly taking out my planer boards and hitting us with a wake that would have swamped an open bow boat.
He may have money but doubt he has friends unless they are as arrogant as him.
I don’t know the rules but I think a boat that is fishing has the right of way vs a boat under power.

I thought there was a rule about rightaway safety if you are overtaking a slower boat.

When both boats are under power general rules of right of way apply. However boat operation has to reasonable for existing conditions and boat traffic. Large boats can be held responsible for throwing a damaging wake. A video or picutres can be worth a thousand words

i thought if you were rich and had a big boat you had the right of way. i know you are responsible for your wake and any loss or damage's it causes, sorry to hear you lost 2 tekota reels/rods and a beckman net send him a bill ;D

Glad you're still around to post.
When we run into someone like that we should keep a running list so we all can remember to tell them they are #1.
Ceasar's coffin and Outback from Sturgeon Bay #1 and #2. Outback got me a couple years back

You really need to watch it out there. The last day of the KD I was almost hit by a large boat out deep. Saw it coming a long ways out, it just kept comeing right at me. I had to turn to avoid getting hit he ran right over our lines, missed the boards by 20' or so. Couldnt see a name on the boat. There was a rubber raft on the siwm platform. It was likely on autopilot with no one watching.

Friend I know likes to carry a paintball gun onboard for this very reason.....
It'll at least give that guy a couple hours of cleaning to do once he's back on shore.

An outside wire board would be perfect for that situation. Let him run it over and wind that up in his prop(s) Then just wave as he rides off into the sunset.
