After lots of years and probably getting complacent with keeping stuff on the boat, somebody got away with a couple thousand dollars in equipment between June 20 and July 20.
Learned my lesson, brought everything home, and don't trust anyone!!
To the rat #$#$ that took my stuff. I hope I find first.

Wow! That sucks. I hope you find them. Check Craigslist most thieves are stupid and will try and sell the stuff in the same area they stole it.

That stinks. Does your insurance cover anything? Sure hope it isn't other fishermen.

Man that really bites, not much I hate worse than a thief. I was at Algoma about a month ago and felt very comfortable much like I do here at home near Millelacs. The people in town were all very kind, loved that little coffee shop where we went for breakfast, the old guy's with me played the guitars they had there in the corner. I left my boat with all equipment tied to the dock while we went to eat and stopped back to motel for a little shut eye. I guess no place is safe anymore. I hope they can catch these guy's and flog them in the town square. One of the old guy's with me told me of a story from when he had a boat there back in the 80's, some punks from Chicago got caught stealing off the boats there at Algoma and some of the locals beat them to the edge of death and sent them on there way.

I cannot believe it myself. Have been leaving the stuff in the boat for 12 years, and have never had an issue.
I hope it's not another fisherman, and I don't think so based on what they took, and what they didn't. took two wireline rods with older SG47LC's and left 4 brand new copper setups. They took the easy stuff, not the valuable stuff.
What sucks is they got about 85 flashers and 50+ rigged flys. whats good is they didn't take a 30 year spoon collection ( maybe 1000) this could have been much worse.
This was while I was stored with the cover on, so not even down in the river, most likely safer there.
And hey, Algoma Police department - I left a message for the on duty officer on Sunday morning. It's Tuesday, how about calling me back

That stinks. We're heading over to Algoma in the morning and have left things in the boat as well. Sure would hate to bring everything into the hotel for the afternoon and evening while we nap.
Let's hope there are found and you get your stuff back.

I sorry for your loss, but leaving anything of value out in the open is asking for trouble. It's getting bad around here, Houses are getting broke into with the owners home. Never heard of this a few years ago. I keep my rig locked up in a shed, IF I stop for gas or what not someone stays with the boat at all times. Now adays you have to make sure your not an ez target. Its sad, but its the world we live in.

I feel your pain. I had my boat parked in front of my house a couple of years ago and some guys took almost all of my rods. They even resnapped the cover when they were done geting all the rods out. They were very silent. I was sleeping about 20 feet away with the window open and I did not hear a thing.

I was talking to the marina staff at another port and they said the incidents they have had were the result of fishermen stealing from other fishermen. I appears that these thieves were looking to add to their own fishing tackle and not to make money selling hot items. Take a walk around the docks and look for your tackle.

Speaking of the President, too bad they didn't use any of the Homeland Security money to put up cameras in the marina. From what I've heard, Green Bay and Sturgeon Bay has them.

You've got a camera at Algoma--the webcam. But all you see is that darn maple tree.
