Are they still biting up there? Are certain colors or depths working better? Im driving 7 hours to get there this next week so any tips to put me on some fish would help.

9 hour drive for me. With the kd starting I doubt you will get much of a response. Last I heard everything was pretty much like bath water everywhere. Here's to hoping for a good blow between now and then.

Just got back from Baileys Harbor yesterday (July 14). I am a complete newbie. I fished for the second time with my own boat. Three downriggers. My two boys didn't know how to keep line tight when the fish was on, and we landed a 14, 10 and 8. We missed three by the boat. We had caught all the fish by 6 am. Missed a couple later was in by 8am. We were using flashers and flys. Glow in the dark and chrome flashers with purplish flourescent and white flys (sorry, don't know the names). The old guys at the cleaning station had piles of fish. We fished in 80-140 fow and 50-60 feet deep. Hope that helps.

Here's to hoping for a good blow between now and then. I understand there is the tournament going next week. Im not going to fish that just want to get some fish to put in the freezer. If anyone would shot me an email with what is working rather than post it for the world to see that would be great to. Email is kuzky3@yahoo.com. Gary thanks for letting me know what worked for you. This will be my third trip in my boat, so I'm just as new to it as you are.

Buy a ticket! My first weekend salmon fishing I didnt buy one in algoma either due to weather and slow action the first day. Lived to regret it as I caught the 6th place fish with no place! 25.00 derby ticket, 700.00 mistake not to buy one!

Fishing is still good. Flashers down deep in white or chrome, big weenie double aqua uv flies, and the occasional deep spoon. All I run is warriors and the blue pearl and die hard have been pretty good. Early in the day ultra glow green alwife, and bloody nose have been good. 3-6 colors or core picked up fish along with divers 140-220 out and downriggers 60-110 were good. 300 and 450 of copper worked too.. Dont be afraid to leave the bank and fish deep. Kyle Wogsland www.jennyannsportfishing.com

We fished on the Bank Sunday through Tuesday, with less traffic then previous years. We ended up with 27 kings and 2 bows. 1 short of our possession. We never went beyond 150 feet. 10 kings came on dipsy's with magnum spoons. Wire dipsy set at 125-150, fire line at 100-125. 3 others on the 5 color with a magnum orange spoon out the back. The rest were mixed spoons, or flasher fly. Our best was green flasher and little boy blue fly. Set lines at 3:45AM on Sunday and Monday. Tuesday the wind was strong and we slept in. We went out at 11 AM and fished till 9:00. Early morning riggers set at 45 and 60, and never went deeper then 75 later. As always we had a great time in the state of Wisconsin. Attachments:

The bank was still good on Friday. Got blown off on Thursday, consistent 5-6' waves and building. We were there since Sunday. Only needed to fish mornings. Wind went from south to north mid week, we changed our approach and didn't miss a lick. Dipseys were firing hard first pass in the morning with mostly glow spoons. Inticers with Howie flies, double aqua, llb, frog, powder blue, all worked. chrome blades in the sun, white and other colors in the clouds. Downriggers hit from 30 to 80 down. Especially after the wind change and all the warm water everywhere, we caught fish from top to bottom, fished out to 160, most of the time less. Probably the steadiest fishing we have had in many years. Nice average size, nothing over 18lbs, not many less than 4lbs, which may be a concern for next year.
