You guys near Algoma---- how fast are you trolling? Those 200+ pounds we got last week were all on ff, but we were averaging 1.8 mph --- we started out pulling 1/2 ff and 1/2 spoons, but the spoons may have been going too slow, and produced nada...My "speed at the ball" gizmo never works so I go by the GPS.... My helmsmen are only capable of serpentine steering so the baits are always going at different speeds,,,, Its hard to get a handle on whats the best.....JP

I work off of my Subtroll and usually am at 1.75-2.00 on it. When I look at my GPS it usually is reading quite a bit higher in MPH. If I had to run off GPS I'd try around 2.5-2.8. Yesterday at Algoma my GPS SOG was running in that area and we caught fish on FF and spoons both. Spoons outproduced flasher/flies by about 3 to 1 but I was also running about 3 times more spoons, so I guess they both worked about the same.
All those numbers are giving me a headache, I think I need to go fishing to cure it. ;D
