Does anyone know when they pull the docks at Algoma? I don't want to think about putting the boat away, but it's coming.

City marina managment told me last week they were not going to pull them this year. They are supposedly leaving everything in place as is. Even the seasonal slips. However they have removed the cleaning table and fish gut barrells this week as I guess they have completely given up caring about the fisherman that are still fishing out of thier marina, paying launch fees and trying to support what is left of thier Completely Mismanaged Business!!! WOW Did I just Vent all that Out Loud!!? LN

Kewaunee's fish cleaning station is all closed up too. Don't know about Salmon Harbor though. I guess if you get fish got to haul them home fpr cleaning.

Might be a good time of year to start cleaning them at sea

Might be a good time of year to start cleaning them at sea That's what I was thinking too. If I get a trip in next week I'll bring my cleaning board along and clean 'em as we catch 'em.

A few months ago someone one on here gave us a great tip on getting one of these $4-5 plastic floor mats. They hold the fish nice and still while you carve them up. They work 100 times better than a cutting board. Try it I think you'll like it P.S. also try bleeding your fish before cleaning and there is hardly any mess at all

Great idea Nick, thanks. I'll have to get one of those. It'll work good sitting on the doghouse and the washdown will take care of any mess.
How do you bleed you fish, snip the gills and hang them overboard for a while?

I get the fish over the livewell and snip a few gills. Let them bleed out for 15 min or more than clean or put on ice. I believe the fish actually taste better after being bled out. I've been taking my fish right from the livewell knocking the sides off, bagging into gallon sized zipplocks than putting on ice. Sure keeps the cooler clean Now I'm thinking of down sizing to a much smaller fish cooler for non-tournament fishing days

I agree with Nick that salmon that has been bled taste better. Also, fish will keep longer is the freezer because blood in the flesh is one of the factors that cause fish to turn rancid in the freezer sooner.
I bleed my fish in a double 5-gallon bucket mounted on the swim platform but I have seen artilces on SalmonUniveristy.com dragging fish on a bleeder line to bleed the fish.
I have to agree that if you bleed the fish there is alot less mess cleaning the fish.
