samll boat = west winds
blows the warm surface water out and cold water in, thermocline in closer to shore and flatter water

Komo, being a shore fisherman(well, almost a fisherman), I'd have to go with Phishy on this one. It seems when the wind blows from the west, the near shore water is less disturbed and the fish tend to hit better. Of course, I rarely catch anything, so maybe someone else can chime in and help you out! Carolina

CT....I look at it the opposite way. Normally when fishing the breakwater in Algoma I like a SSE to NNE about 8-12 mph. Being that the lake is so clear, it stirs it up a bit and mixes the cold/warm water triggering hits. And fishing after a good blow is always pretty good as well. This is breakwater fishing vs boat fishing....and fishing Algoma... My .02 Worth Paul
