Okay, it has been 3 years now that I have been looking for a bigger boat. I can never find one that I am confident in, so I usually end up getting frustrated and give up. I would like a 22-26' boat. I hate walk-arounds, and I hate center consoles. I want to keep the price around 10-12k. I figure for that price I can find a decent boat from the late 80's / maybe even early 90's. Go figure, I found a 25' sea ray the other day 2 miles from my house! When I caled the guy to ask for a sea trial he had sold it I am asking myself if it will be the same old tune this year "wait till next year and I'll find something good out there"

Steve, that ride looks underpowered with twin 4's.

That Sea Ray with the twin 4's has been at Algoma Municipal & Jag's docks the past few years. I've fished on a few like that and found the fish fighting area to be small for the size of the boat, tough to get around the couch type driver's seat to grab a rod, and with the rear deck flat above the engines, you are standing way above the waterline, making for a lot of swaying in larger waves, and a long reach with the net. Nice cruisers with a big cuddy, but a compromise for fishing.

A lot of the smaller 21-22 footers have hardly any fish fighting room with the dang dog house in the way. I guess either way there are drawbacks. The one thing I do not like about the sea rays is they do not make the back deck very deep. Only comes up to about just above my knees...

1989 240 Thompson Hard Top in Park Rapids area... duluth.craigslist.org/boa/1713822839.htmlYou're probably going to have to get outside of the twin cities area to get much of a selection of "lake michigan" style boats...

I have looked at Duluth, all of Wisconsin, Ohio, and Michigan, even some in New York. I've looked at boattrader, craigslist, lake-line, etc.. I do like Thompson boats, I will give that guy a call.
