Was joined by Rabface last night for an evening trip out of Port Washington… We left the gap shortly after 5:15pm and headed southeast out to 120fow to setup as the southern most boat in a group that was fishing straight out of the gap. After hitting 150fow we turned it back in on a southwest troll heading right at the private light house.
We popped our first fish in 142fow on a mono planner board, 5\8th keel weight, pulling a 00 orange dodger, and a peanut fly. A very nice eating coho… Shortly after resetting that board and a quick phone conversation with Clam who was in Racine the same board went off again with another nice coho. We continued our troll in but noticed we were not getting as many marks so we swung back out and around to 142fow on a north troll. After a quick change out of downrigger and siderigger presentations we had a good flurry action. Caught a dandy of a coho on the downrigger with an 8in orange spin doctor and a Big Weenie Proctologist fly down 122. Just as we got that netted the 3 clr board line went off with a feisty jumping Rainbow. The 3 clr had a 00 orange dodger with a peanut fly as well. Shortly after resetting that line and getting back to 142 the downrigger with a 2 clr SWR went off down 120 with a what I call pink laser pro king spoon (I believe it is better known as the capt dougie spoon). A beautiful 13lb King that tried multiple times to wipe out some lines but good rod control by Rabface brought him up the ally…
After that we were done… All our fish came between 6-7pm and after we were welded tight. We made another loop back south marking some fish but no takers… Finishing up the trip around 8pm we headed back to the launch going 5-5 with 3 cohos, 1 king, and 1 bow…
