I have a bunch of the tite lock rod holders and they work fine. I am concerned though that after dipsey abuse eventually they will fail. Anyone have a recommendation on some stronger ones for dips?

I have the ratcheting Bert's which are nice because people can lift the rod up versus out. The Cannons are VERY nice too, especially the ones that can be adjusted to angle out in any direction as well as up down. They have one handed operation too. Smokercraft has those and if I was in the market again, that is where I'd go. They fit in the Bert's, Traxtech, and Cannon track systems.

Sutty, I've been using the same triple heavy duty Big Jons for 16 years without failure and they are moving on to their third boat. (Drill Sargent can vouch since these BJs were first used for 10 years or so on the Cruiser's boat that he is giving to Josh). I'm having Traxstech tracks installed on my new boat and these BJs will go into the tracks along with several more Traxstech adjustable rod holders. My two cents is pay the money for the quality product once and be done with it.

I run my dipsys on DotLine Stainless adjustable holders very solid & heavy. The stainless base swivels so you can turn them at any angle and also tilt up and down. They are quite pricy, $62 from the factory that I picked up there or add $9.95 for shipping. Marine General has then for $59 + the shipping costs. Made in Kenosha by Mengo Industries.

I have had tite-locks on my boat since 99, with no problems. I don't see the need to replace them, however if I was to set up a new boat I would get something better.

Sutty:
I picked up some Big John rod holder trees ( 3 rod holders per tree) - one for each side. the bottom one is layed out flat & works very well for the dipseys. I love this set up. Big John is pricey.
If I had it to do over, I would check with Red Rider, Terry Green and Coz who would custom manufacture them for a very reasonable price. It would be equal or better quality at a much lower price.

I agree that Big Jon's are solid and same ones have been on my 2 boats since 1985, both riggers and Dipsys. That is until I got one Brute last yr and another this yr. Broke a couple of the brass pins in the Dipsy holders but the new replacements will last forever.
I also agree re Coz making trees. I couldn't be happier with mine.

I absolutely love the three rod trees and the two dipsy rod holders I installed on CLAM II from Great Lakes Planers..... At $220 for the pair of dipsy rod holders with adjustable heights and excellent welding, I have been very pleased....... The three rod planer trees mounted easily on the sides and are feature packed at $250 for the pair..... No disclaimer needed......just good stuff!
