Fished solo today which was actually a lot easier and more enjoyable than I imagined.... Set up in about 80 FOW trolled out to 125FOW, Had two rigger pop twice, both times on bloddy nose, both times the culprit eluded capture... I did run a dipsy again and was tangle free, maybe one day I can get a strike on one...
Headed out tomorrow early with the old man so I am hoping a full day of strong west winds will get things going again..
Surface temp average about 45 degrees, anyone have any info on the thermocline?

I doubt there's a strong thermocline this early in the year, could be wrong on that one though.

I'm rooting for east winds to bring the warm water back to shore. Good luck on the diver program . . . . tangle free is the first step

The Milwaukee crowd uses 16 to get a hold of each other and 68 as a side channel. I would suggest scanning between the two. East Winds? West Winds bring in the cold water and Cold Water = Good Water Plowing back in today from 125 FOW I noticed not only was I fighing white caps and rollers but all the wood and debris from the river as well, make sure you keep an eye out for your prop, no BS I saw a tree floating along today....

We USUALLY want West winds......In Summertime. Water's a bit too cold right now if we have West winds.

Isn't channel 16 the Coast Guard channel? Technically yes. Channel 16 CAN be used to hail other boats but you need to agree on another channel upon them answering your hail.

Yes it is ... And if it use it around Sturgeon Bay they will "REMIND" you as such I do believe they changed the "hailing" channel to 09 .. but could be wrong.

The Milwaukee Coast Guard is pretty tolerent, but if you start asking about spots and get into fishing talk they will tell you to take it to a side channel...
You should be all right fishing in the dark just use common sense and keep an open eye for logs, gamblers, and loose women.....

LBL, most of those you mentioned are hanging out at Ma'Fischers early on Saturday mornings, so Komo should be okay at the docks! ;D Just kidding guys, you know that Ma's is my favorite stop, aside from Harry's! Carolina

I'm not sure if you can call it fishing, but I walk down there and watch folks at McKinley most weekends, and fish sometimes from the breakwall and rocks around the marina for Brownies. Carolina
