Unless it's sunny out, I doubt it matters.

I don't personally put much stock into the disk color. That said, I have switched to clear and black ones but I'd have no concerns at all using my green or firetiger ones that I used for years successfully.
There may be some value to the orange ones when the Coho bite is on but my clear and black ones have worked fine for Coho too as have my green and firetiger.
Once again, it comes down to confidence IMO.

This question gets asks repeatedly regardless of website......I dont put much stock in color of dipsy, but there are many that do......
I am sure that there are times when it could make a difference, but I cant honestly say under what circumstances......personal preference I guess.

I am in the minority I guess. I really think it does matter. Maybe not when fishing is good, but when it's slow. Last year, while Brown fishing, I was running green Dipseys. After watching a guy boat 3-4 fish on orange ones, I switched to orange. The Dipseys turned on like a light switch. In my mind at least, the UNWRITTEN rule is trout like orange, and salmon like green. I do try and match Dipsey color with F/F color, or spoon color.

I am on the yes side. Silver, metallic blue and kelly green work well. Metallic green has been hot last 2 years. We had a one week period where the high metallic blue diver was on fire. I always run white flasher aqua/pioneer fly on it so the only difference is the diver. I think it is confidence in a color as well.

Hopefully you now have it rigged correctly now so it doesnt skim the surface anymore........I am not worried about your ability to catch fish on them in the future once you get your bearings about you running them..... Chris..... I bought a metallic green Walker Deeper Diver for one of my wire line dipsy rigs based on your recommendation!

LBL: Don't give up on them. The 1st year I ran them, nothing. I kept putting them out, changing the leader lenght, color of dispey, I tried it all. One day something happened and they starting hitting. They have hit ever since. Try and make sure you have them out far enought so they are down in the strike zone where the fish are. Start with 100 feet of line out. If nothing hits, let another 20 feet out. Keep repeating that until you either catch a fish or the bottom of the lake. Good luck

An attractor question. Can you use any size dodger combo without the dipsy tripping? Does the snubber help with this also?
