There are a few flashers and spin doctors that I have used with certain flies that have been very effective the last few years.....I can give you a few examples:
1) 8 or 11 inch green Hot Spot or Coyote flasher with white cracked ice glow on one side and lead (stamped) on the other, coupled with a Howie Green Crinkle Fly
2) Light Green 8 inch Spin Doctor with double sided white cracked ice glow coupled with a Green/Glow long fly
3) 8 or 10 inch white spin doctor with double sided white cracked ice glow and an Opti or Rainbow Richard Little Boy Blue fly
4) Chartreuse 8 inch spin doctor with white cracked ice on one side and mountain dew on the other with a long Howie or Rainbow Richard double aqua fly
5) 10 inch spin doctor (blue /chome on one side and blue bubble tape on the other with a long Blue Bubble (blue and silver) fly
There really isnt a hard and fast rule on speed when running flasher/fly combos because there are days when the fish are active (troll faster) and days when they are lethargic (troll slower)......
I would start out at around 2.4 speed over ground and change speeds or do a few mini "S" turns with the boat until you dial into a speed that the fish seem to like....

Those are all some really good tips. I would suggest June. We are already picking up kings and have heard of several steelies caught. I think this year may be a bit earlier of a start than normal. That said, you can always get a good mix late june to ealry july. Anywhere in there is pretty consistant. As July goes on it becomes more of a king bite than a steelie bite. Our mainstay is normally spoons, however a few flashers and flies/ meat rigs can help a lot. If unsure I would suggest adding one on a rigger and one on a diver and try and get them near the fish. You may be surprised what a little playing can find. Feel free to email me if you have questions on what baits are working before you go. Also in fear of getting hammer for cheap promotions, we are running a short learning charter this year for people that specifically want to learn. It is mid day and lasts 3 hours. We will take out 2 people and work one on one putting out a 12 rod spread. Then we will turn it over to you to do. Also willing to customize according to what you want to learn and teach any of the how to stuff. This is only $200 plus tax, so it is something to consider if you want to do it on your own but want to cut down on the learning curve a bit. Best of luck and dont be afraid to ask any questions. Everyone, many, many thanks. I really appreciate all the tips. I love reading this board, especially, during June and July.
When the trip gets closer, I might take up a few of you on tips or even switching ports for a few days.
Later, Jason.
