Frankfort: Lots of alewife are making it hard for anglers to catch fish. Try trolling 75 to 120 feet down in 100 to 200 feet of water with meat rigs and spoons. The scum line is starting to form in deep water which is good news for those looking for steelhead.
Ludington--Water is flipping today. Cold water has come rushing back close to shore and the warm water is pushing out. not sure why this has happened, we did not get enough wind from the north and east to make this happen. Still lots of bait with dead ones littering the surface. Sea Fleas are still bad but not out in deep water 38's out. Every one is marking a lot of fish but they are not biting well. Saw this phenomenon about 12yrs ago with lots of dead alewives floating, tough to imitate a dying bait fish as it circles up to the surface, might have to try jigging. Maybe as soon as the die off quits these fish will fire on our baits??
