Good job on getting the grandsons out. I also had my 7 year old grandson out on Sunday & although we only caught 2, he thought it was a great trip as it was his first salmon & he got to drive "the big boat." All in your perspective I guess. Best comment on the morning was "geez Grandpa these sure do fight harder than sunfish" He also informed me we would of caught more fish with bobbers & worms.
Just what we need-another meat fisherman like SteveO.LOL

Latest is slooowwww. Been here since Friday pm. Boated 2/3 Saturday morning. Sunday went 0 for 3. One release Monday. Nothing today. Charters getting 3-6 fish. Some zeroes. Water is 73+, even over 160 ft. Had a nice boat ride from 60 to 160 ft of water, six miles north to five miles south. Everyone is complaining about warm water. They have to eat sometime. . forpest sums things up very well. I was over this past weekend for Shanty Days. 2 for 2 on Sunday morning & very slow fishing. We did graph some fish& bait right on the bottom but only the 2 bites. Good luck as I'm guessing you'll need it.

Anyone know when the last time a 35 lb fish was weighed in the KD?? For anyone that is interested was in 1999. Kevin Naze wrote a interesting article in the Green Bay paper & put a link to the article on the KD Facebook page.

Was that the 34 caught at rowleys bay? Info I found was winner of 2002 KD Tourney registered in Algoma & caught by Ken Frenette at 34.75 lb. I haven't fished Rowleys Bay in years but assume any fish caught there would be registered in Baileys Harbor? At kdsalmon.com they list most of the tourney results going back to 2002 but a couple of years are missing. This is probably a question for Kevin Naze as I know he has been involved with the KD tourney for years.

I checked the KD website & nothing that big going back to early 2000s.
Biggest fish I found was 34+ in 2002

Thanks again for the detour info guys. I used the County K detour into Rio Creek & no problems. Great road & not much of a hassle at all. Even the Green Bay roads seem to be slowly improving so that was nice.

Thanks fatcat. I suppose this is a freakin 5 year project like that mess in Green Bay. Anyone know if they are Ever going to be done in Green Bay. Every time I go thru Green Bay it seems to get worse instead of better. It should be a real treat with all the traffic this weekend.

Since the Salmon and Steel head are not native they will always favor Lakers. Not that I am an expert just an opinion. Ya I've heard the same old thing about Lakers for years. They are native to Lake Michigan--blah blah blah. In over 25 years of fishing I've never once heard anyone say they came to Lake Michigan to fish lakers.

It does make me sick to my stomach that they won't cut coho and lake trout stocks by 60% as well. With 3.5 million lakers and 3 million cohos being dumped in the lake every year, they are chowing a hell of a lot more alewives than a million chinooks. So anchorman do you have any thoughts on why only Chinooks are being targeted for this reduction. I thought you may have read something or talked to someone that knows. A simple solution would be to simply raise & plant some alewives. But what do I know-I'm just a dumb fisherman.

Thanks for the info on #54 Lynn Marie. So when coming out of Green Bay it might be easier to stay on Highway 57 & turn at Dycesville? Anybody have a better way to Algoma?

Nice report. Congrats on what sounds like a great fishing trip.
SO now highway 54 is closed? Getting to be a real adventure in Green Bay area. I figure the next traffic sign I'll see will say "Sorry you can't get to Algoma from here"
