Well I did manage to get a last minute crew from Mcfarland. The kicker was they had to meet me at the lunch because I had to pick my sister up at the Milwaukee airport at 7:45 PM. A little tricky navigating through the cell lot and the traffic with the boat!
Hit the water with just enough light that I didn’t need to put lights on my Off Shore boards. Bait and hooks we’re still there but the bite was way slower than the day before. It took quite a while to get our first Coho. The action for the most part was kind of steady but almost as many drive-bys as hook ups. Similar for a couple of buddies fishing the same area. Surface temp was up to 54° and down 30 it was 50. Depth Raider speed same as day before at 2.2 to 2.4 But today a little current out of the north. Spent the day within a couple of miles of yesterday’s trail but tried 75-120fow.
I had spoons out for a while but they only managed a shaker king. The Hot Tamale on three color and the shallow Dipsy were going again with a Big Al fish flash red and silver 6 inch size. However the hot rod, much to my surprise was again the wire Dipsey with a Brad‘s purple frog on a White spin doctor with glow/green tape 80 LOC 1.5 set. Took our last three fish and nine bites.
Because I had to stay in Milwaukee my crew was happy to fish until 1 PM, just about the time the north wind picked up. Ended the day 16 for 30 with one king, one rainbow and the rest Coho. Surprised and disappointed no good chinook rips in two days. I saw one decent King at the cleaning station. The creel census people said they didn’t see anything big yesterday except rainbows and Lakers.
