It will be interesting how the benzy frenzy went, my guess like the last 2 years the fish are prestaging in michigan.

I fished out of Algoma on Sat & Sun mornings solo. Surface temp was 57 inside of 100 fow, 64 out deeper. Fish are scattered, and cold water down deep. Probe had temps in the mid to high 40s down 80-100'. Pearl Yek spoon took couple fish, pearl flashers/aqua fly a couple. Silver/green #5 J Plug took one. Lots of north to south current, so down speed was much different than surface speed. Some browns were caught in shallow south of town.

Lameduck, give me a hollar on 10 in the morning. We found some fish north of town in 130 fow. Pretty slow out there. Fish are confused or in shock with the cooler water temps. WHY ISN'T THE HORN WORKING on the Algoma light. Sunday night the fog was so thick the last mile in we had to get within 200 feet to see it. Without good GPS we were lost. Al

i think the horn is off unless you need it - you need to key your vhf mike for 3- 5 sec on channel ? (i forgot- i have it written in the boat)

I have only heard slow reports lately. Charters with 3-10 fish catches... we need rain and these winds to die off or pick a direction!

The last trip of the season and I managed to miss the bite yet again. I couldn't believe how mixed up the water temps were. There were spots where we had 68 deg on the surface and 70 deg water down 50 feet. I had a friend and his grandson along and really wanted to get the youngster hooked on salmon fishing. He only had the chance to reel in one of the two fish we caught. spent most of the time playing with his iPod Both fish came on spoons behind 4 colors on boards. I did learn a few things on the this trip. 1) Don't leave the dock without a chartplottter or your GPS. 2) Key channel 83 to trigger the fog horn in Algoma 3) Fleet Farm in GB sells boat trailer fenders besides tires. We had a spectacular blow out on the way over that totally disintegrated the trailer fender. Last trip of the year for me but I am at 219 days, 5 hours, 2 minutes to retirement. I 'll be able to spend a bit more time on the water and have the flexibility next year to get in on the good bites. Al
