Sorry for this abbreviated trip post, as I will give you some details that will hopefully help you dial in on your next trip out on The Big Pond.....
Started fishing in 100 FOW about two miles north of the gap (you read correctly, north!) --- northeast troll into the 1-1/2 footers at the time at 2.6 SOG -----
This morning's cast consisted of Relay, Reel Melodi and Little Blue Lund (who now LOVES dipsies....lol).....
Ended up going 21 for 22 this morning (17 of the 21 fish came on the north troll).......We bagged five kings, three lakers, three nice rainbows and ten coho.....nice mixed bag!
Our best depth was around 120 FOW, but we ran between 105 and 130 the entire trip.....
The Moonshine magnum Blue Flounder was the superstar for this trip, as it bagged six fish alone ---- five of them came on a side rigger down 46 feet, and one on a neighboring braided dipsy....the other fish catching rig to do some damage was the 8 inch Opti Inticer (one side blue mountain dew and white cracked ice glow on the other) coupled with a Big Weenie Little Boy Blue fly on a back rigger down 67 feet which popped three fish.....
We caught four fish on dipsies (two on wire and two on Power Pro), and most of our action on riggers came between 40 and 70 feet......
We had action almost from the start after we deployed our fourth line, and we had the scramble of scrambles when we were hooked up with six lines at a time at one point, landing five of them......We gave LBL a real workout this morning (lol).....
Great chatting with everyone this morning ------ awesome to see Matty (Right Turn) and hear him on the radio again after all this time and see him back into fishing commission.......Mike (Aqua-holic) and I had the same game plan when it came to the Blue Flounder spoon this morning (brilliant minds think alike or two blind squirrels find nuts on occasion.....lol)......
We did have a few tangles this morning unfortunately, but it was a wicked current to the north that makes controlled turns and deployment of lines very tough....the action was very good and we were happy with the catch!
Mojo --- you are the master my friend ---- Joe pounded out 21 fish as well, with some very nice hefty four year olds --- way to go buddy!
My thanks to Dan (Reel Melodi), Rick (Relay) and especially Adam (Little Blue Lund) for taking an opportunity to come fish out of Port and on Clam II ----- I am so glad you came away with some ideas on lure selection and running dipsies, etc to help you on your own future trips out of Milwaukee ---- Great job by a great crew!
Today's catch -- a four man limit going 21 for 22 with the crew of (from left) Reel Melodi, Little Blue Lund and Relay --- nice going guys!
